Summer Recap

So, this has been an amazing summer- probably one of my best. This may be for several reasons.

1) It got off to a great start: China rocked.

2) I really like to drive and I really like to see my friends and family. That's pretty much what I've done every single weekend

3)The opening of my mind in many ways. I spent June studying world religions, July reading the mammoth "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance", and August studying philosophy.

That last part, philosophy, is one area I never thought I would get remotely near. I'm a realist in most senses of the term, but I think I agree with Socrates more and more everyday:

"For man, the unexamined life is not worth living."

There's an elegant way that Robert Pirsig writes about this kind of thing, and as soon as I get home, I'll try to find the page and post the excerpt.

I've got a lot of thoughts on this, but for now I just wanted to recap my summer. My last day of work is tomorrow, then it's Mini-apples for a day, then HOME SWEET HOME!!! I love my family, my friends and my community in and around PR, and distance has definitely made the heart grow fonder!
